SIGNAL AVERAGED ELECTROCARDIOGRAMS |
A standard electrocardiogram contains low amplitude signals that contain important information about the conduction system of the heart but are not discernable to the human eye.
A signal averaged electrocardiogram (SAECG) records the electrocardiogram over and over again for about 15 minutes and then prints out an average of all of the readings. This will show those low amplitude signals so that they can be analyzed.
The SAECG provides information about the propensity of the heart to develop abnormal heart rhythms.
